FRANZ P HAASE

Franz grew up in Massachusetts where he spent most week-ends and summers working for his father in the plumbing and heating contracting industry. In the late 1960’s his father’s firm branched out into the fire sprinkler industry.

Since then Franz has been involved in all aspects of both industries. In the middle 1970’s he evolved into the residential sprinkler movement and has been an influential participant to this day. Through the early years he participated in a lot of the initial testing of residential sprinklers.

In the early 1990’s he combined his plumbing and sprinkler knowledge and was able to combine two systems into a single system. He has been granted several patents in the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, on this technology. He, and Doug Lenberg, have been directly involved with the code changes required to allow this new technology to be used in residential construction. As a result of these efforts ,combined multi-purpose plumbing/sprinkler systems are now allowed in most codes, and thousands have been installed all over the world.

Franz has lectured, trained, and installed systems all over the world. He has worked with such prestigious organizations as Factory Mutual, Underwriters Laboratories, NFPA, Canadian Research Center, and Sandia Laboratories. Franz’s association with Doug goes back to the early 1990’s. They have been working together since then and recently formed RGBS in order to combine their expertise and talents to work toward a common goal.

RGBS, with a small business grant from Sandia Laboratories, is constructing a test house in Farmington New Mexico utilizing several technologies, “The Green Team“. These technologies are focused on affordability and sustainability with an emphasis on water and energy conservation . The home has been started and will be monitored for 12 months by Sandia for performance. Construction photos and all performance data will be available on this site, so join in and watch the “Real Green Team” in action.
